Welcome
to Society Hall
Developed by Ancestry.com and the Federation
of Genealogical Societies (FGS), Society Hall is the most comprehensive
directory of genealogical and historical societies on the Web. Societies
publish newsletters and have lectures at society meetings to keep
members abreast of current news and events. These services improve
family history skills and provide a network of people to help break
through research barriers.
FGS is a non-profit organization comprised of hundreds of genealogical
and historical societies, family associations, and libraries with a
combined membership of over 500,000 members. FGS is actively involved in
efforts to protect societies, facilitate and coordinate society
activities, and monitor events significant to the genealogical
community. The Federation is the collective voice for genealogists at
the national level. The "FGS Member Symbol" identifies all societies in
the Hall that belong to FGS.
